The Ethiopian Women Empowerment Association (EWEA) is a non-profit organization based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Founded by a group of dedicated women, EWEA is committed to improving the lives of disadvantaged women through social and economic empowerment.
As its mission, EWEA aims to ensure that every woman has access to and actively participate in social and economic opportunities. It strives to strengthen the role of Ethiopian women by enhancing their social and economic statuses.
The organization provides entrepreneurship and motivational training to women, identified as the poorest of the poor to support them engage in income-generating activities.
After providing the life-changing training for the identified women, EWEA also provides them with financial assistance to kick-start small businesses, thereby improving their livelihoods.
EWEA has further expands its efforts to include complementary activities for its beneficiaries related to health and psycho-social support.
Funds for activities come from individual donors and private businesses, and EWEA maintains full accountability and transparency towards its members and donors.
